Banking and tax change alerts

Get an email when a rep's banking or tax details change. Turn it on and pick recipients on the Setup page.

Banking and tax change alerts email your team whenever a rep's banking or tax information changes. Turn them on in the Admin view at Settings > Company > Setup, on the Banking & tax change alerts card. The email names the fields that changed, never their values. The alert is off until an admin turns it on.

Who can do this: Admins whose permission group includes the alerts permission (view to see the card, edit to change it).

Turn on the alert

  1. In the Admin view, open Settings > Company > Setup and scroll to Banking & tax change alerts.

  2. Switch the toggle on. It saves right away and you'll see "Alert turned on".

  3. To choose who gets the email, type an address (for example name@company.com) and select Add. Repeat for each person.

  4. Select Save Changes. You'll see "Alert recipients saved".

If you leave the recipient list empty, the alert goes to all active Company Admins.

What the email contains

  • The subject reads "Action may be needed:" followed by what changed (banking, tax, or banking and tax) and the person's name.

  • It lists the names of the fields that changed, never the old or new values.

  • It is sent whether the rep made the change or an admin did.

Type

Fields that trigger an alert

Banking

Bank name, routing number, account number, name on account, account type.

Tax

Social Security number, tax information, entity type, business name, business type, business EIN.

The person who made the change doesn't get the alert, unless they're the only recipient.

Why it matters

A change to a rep's bank account right before payday is worth checking. When you get an alert you didn't expect, confirm the change with the rep directly (not by replying to an email) before you run payroll.

Troubleshooting

Problem

What to check

Alerts don't arrive

Check that the toggle is on. Then check the Email card on the same page: if company email is off, or the recipient's email domain isn't allowed, the alert isn't sent. See Why aren't my workers getting Sequifi emails?

I can't see the card

Your permission group doesn't include the alerts permission. Ask a Company Admin.

The wrong people get the alert

Update the recipient list and select Save Changes. An empty list sends to all Company Admins.
