What to enter during onboarding (personal, tax and banking info)

The fields on each onboarding step: Personal Details, Tax Info (Individual or Business), Banking Info, Tax + Banking Info and Documents.

During onboarding you enter your Personal Details, then your tax info (your Social Security Number, or your business name, type and EIN) and your bank account for direct deposit. Some companies use one secure Tax + Banking Info form instead. Have your SSN or EIN and your bank's routing and account numbers ready.

Who this is for: New workers finishing onboarding on the web. The steps you see depend on your company and on whether you're a contractor or a W-2 employee.

Personal Details

  • First Name, Last Name, Birth Date and Home Address.

  • SSN (or EIN if you're paid as a business).

  • Emergency contact: Name, Phone Number, Relationship and Address.

  • A profile picture, if you want one.

  • Any extra fields your company added.

Tax Info

Under Select Entity Type, choose one:

What you enter

Individual

"If you're receiving the income as part of your personal earnings."

Social Security Number (SSN)

Business

You're paid through your own business.

Business Type, Business Name and Employer Identification Number (EIN)

Business types are Sole Proprietorship, Partnership, LLC, C corp, S corp and Nonprofit. If you aren't sure which to choose, ask your company or a tax professional.

Banking Info

Enter the account your pay goes into: Bank Name, Routing Number, Account Number, Confirm Account Number, Account Name and Type of Account (Savings or Checking).

Tax + Banking Info (some companies)

If your company pays through SequiPay on Sequifi, or you're a W-2 employee at some companies, you see one Tax + Banking Info step instead. It's a secure form from your company's payroll provider. Fill it in on the screen and follow its steps.

Documents

If your company has documents for you after hiring, the last step is Documents. Select Review to sign a document, or Browse to upload a file. Files can be up to 2 MB each. Photos are shrunk automatically, so most phone photos work. See Can't upload your ID or a document? Upload troubleshooting for new hires.

Why Sequifi asks for this

  • Your company needs your SSN or EIN to report what it pays you for taxes.

  • Your bank details are how you get paid by direct deposit.

  • Your SSN, EIN and account numbers show masked after you save.

On the mobile app

The app asks for the same things with slightly different labels, for example Tax information and Banking Information. It can't upload documents. See Mobile: finish onboarding on your phone (ID and document uploads).

Changing it later

After onboarding, change your bank account or tax info on your profile's Banking and Tax Info tabs on the web. See Update your direct deposit and tax info.
