Update a worker's employment package (commissions, position and organization)

Change commission rates, position, office or agreement with Update Employment Package, pick when it applies, and what gets recalculated.

To change a worker's commission rates, position, office or agreement, open their profile and select Update Employment Package. Pick what to update, choose when the change applies, work through the steps, and select Save & Finish. Sequifi then recalculates the worker's open sales from the date you chose. Milestones already paid never change.

Who can do this: Admins with access to the worker's profile whose permission group includes Profile > Commissions > Update Package or Profile > Organisation > Transfer Employee. Managers can do this only if their permission group includes these. Workers can view their own Commission tab but can't change it.

Update an employment package

  1. Open the worker's profile. Company Admins can use User Management (the company name at the bottom of the Admin menu). Others can use Management > Personnel in the Worker view.

  2. Select Update Employment Package. It isn't shown for terminated workers or workers whose contract ended.

  3. At What Information would you like to update?, choose one option under Select Update Wizard and select Proceed:

    • Change Position: a new position, with its pay steps.

    • Transfer User: a new office or manager. See Transfer a worker to another office.

    • Update Commissions: new rates in the same position.

    • Update Organization: agreement, organization, wages and per-period deductions.

    • Update Redlines: only for some solar companies.

  4. At When should these changes apply?, choose an option (see below). The window shows the Last Effective Date: and warns you if existing sales will be affected. Select Continue.

  5. Work through the steps in the Update Wizard. If a new value clashes with one already scheduled, choose Keep effective dates or Overwrite Conflicting Dates on that row.

  6. On Review and Finish, check the changes and select Save & Finish.

Steps in each option

Option

Steps

Update Commissions

The pay steps your company uses, such as Redline (called Office Fee at mortgage companies), Commission, Upfront, Deductions and Accruals, Overrides and Withholdings, then Review and Finish.

Change Position

Organization, Wages (if used), the pay steps, Withholdings, then Review and Finish.

Transfer User

Transfer, the pay steps, then Review and Finish.

Update Organization

Agreement, Organization, Wages, Deductions and Accruals (per period), then Review and Finish.

When should these changes apply?

Option

What it means

Apply to all open sales (Past and Future)

"This will apply changes to all open sales in the past, as well as future data." The effective date is the start of the worker's agreement, so every unpaid sale since then is repriced.

Apply immediately

"This will apply changes to all values from this point moving forward, but will not affect past data." The effective date is today.

Select start date

The change starts on the date you pick.

These changes are Temporary

Pick a start and end date. The day after the end date, the previous values come back automatically.

What gets recalculated

After you save, Sequifi recalculates the worker's sales where they are the closer or setter, the sale isn't cancelled, the final milestone isn't paid yet, and the sale date is on or after the effective date (or inside the temporary window). Paid milestones are never changed. Wage changes also update salary in the open payroll.

Be careful with Apply to all open sales. It reprices every unpaid sale back to the start of the worker's agreement. Use Apply immediately or Select start date if old sales should keep their old rates.

Start a new contract instead

To replace the whole agreement, select New Contract on the profile (or Draft Contract if a draft exists). It runs the full hiring wizard. It needs the New Contract permission.

On the mobile app

You can't update an employment package in the mobile app. Use a web browser.

Common questions

Can I undo a change?

There is no undo. Run the wizard again with the old values, or use These changes are Temporary when a change has an end date.

I changed a rate but an open sale didn't change

Check the effective date. With Apply immediately, sales dated before today keep their old rates. Sales whose final milestone is already paid are never recalculated.

Why don't I see Update Employment Package?

Your permission group needs Update Package or Transfer Employee, and you need access to that worker's profile. It is also hidden for terminated and contract-ended workers.
