How Overrides Work
An override is additional income you earn based on the sales of other people, usually reps you manage, recruited, or have in your downline. Instead of earning a commission on your own sale, you earn a smaller percentage or flat amount on someone else's sale.
Overrides reward you for:
Training and supporting other reps
Building a team through recruiting
Managing an office or region
Helping others close deals
Types of Overrides
Sequifi tracks several types of overrides, and you may earn one or more depending on your position and organization structure:
Direct Override Earned on sales made by reps who report directly to you. If you're a manager and one of your direct reports closes a deal, you earn a direct override on that sale.
Indirect Override Earned on sales made by reps further down in your organization, not just your direct reports. For example, if you recruited a manager who then recruited a rep, you might earn an indirect override on that rep's sales.
Office Override Earned based on the overall performance of an office or location you manage. This rewards you for the collective success of everyone in your office.
Recruiting Override Earned on sales made by people you personally recruited into the company. Even if they don't report directly to you anymore, you may still earn overrides on their production.
Stack Override A type of override structure where multiple levels of management each earn a piece of the override on a single sale.
Manual Override An override added manually by an admin outside of the normal override structure. This might be used for special arrangements, one-time deals, or unique situations.
Viewing Your Override Earnings
From the My Earnings Tab
Log in to Sequifi. You'll start on your dashboard.
Click on "My Earnings" in the left-hand menu. This expands to show three subtabs.
Click on "Overrides." This is the second subtab and shows all your override earnings.
Review the override earnings graph. At the top of the page, you'll see a graph showing your override earnings by month. This helps you see trends and track how your override income is growing over time.
Look at the override breakdown. Below the graph, you'll see your overrides broken down by type:
Direct overrides
Indirect overrides
Office overrides
Manual overrides
Any other override types your company uses
Scroll down to see the account details. The bottom section lists every account you're receiving overrides on, including:
PID number – The unique identifier for the account
Customer name – Who the sale was to
Product – What was sold
Gross account value – The total value of the account
Override amount – How much you're earning on that account
Total earnings – Your total override from that sale
Filtering Your Override View
You can customize what you see on the Overrides page:
Filter by time period. Use the dropdown to view overrides by week, month, year, or a custom date range.
Filter by override type. If you want to see only direct overrides or only office overrides, use the filter options to narrow down the list.
Show projected values. Toggle this option to include projected override earnings from accounts still in the pipeline that haven't been paid out yet.
How Bonuses Work
Bonuses are one-time payments given for special achievements, incentives, or rewards. Unlike commissions and overrides, which are tied to specific accounts, bonuses are typically added manually by an admin.
Common Types of Bonuses
Hiring bonus – A bonus paid when you're hired, often as part of your offer letter
Performance bonus – A reward for hitting certain sales goals or milestones
Contest winnings – Prizes from Arena competitions or company incentives
Retention bonus – A bonus for staying with the company for a certain period
Referral bonus – A bonus for recruiting someone who gets hired and performs well
Where Bonuses Appear
Bonuses typically show up in one of two places:
One-Time Payments – If the bonus is paid outside of regular payroll, it appears in the One-Time Payments section of your pay stub history
Adjustments – If the bonus is included in your regular payroll, it may appear as an adjustment on your pay stub
To check for bonuses:
Go to Reports in the left-hand menu.
Click on Past Pay Stubs.
Look at the One-Time Payments tab for bonuses paid separately.
Click into individual pay stubs and check the Adjustments section for bonuses included in regular payroll.
Understanding Override Calculations
Your override percentage or amount is set up in your comp structure when you're hired or promoted. Here's how it typically works:
Percentage-based overrides You earn a percentage of the account value or the rep's commission. For example, if you have a 3% override and a rep closes a $10,000 account, you earn $300.
Per-unit overrides In some industries like solar, you might earn a flat amount per kilowatt. For example, $50 per kW on every sale your team makes.
Flat overrides A fixed dollar amount per sale, regardless of the account value.
Tiered overrides Your override percentage might increase as your team hits certain production levels.
To see your specific override structure:
Click on your initials in the upper right corner.
Select "View Profile."
Click on the "Commissions" subtab.
Scroll down to see your override percentages for each type.
Tips and Common Mistakes
Overrides only apply if you're in the hierarchy. You need to be connected to a rep through the org chart (as their manager, recruiter, or upline) to earn overrides on their sales. If you're not showing as connected, talk to your admin.
Override earnings depend on account completion. Just like commissions, you typically don't receive override payments until the account reaches certain milestones like M1 or M2.
Projected overrides are estimates. If you see light blue numbers, those are projected earnings from accounts still in the pipeline. They'll become actual earnings once the accounts complete.
Manual overrides are one-time additions. If an admin adds a manual override for you, it applies only to that specific account. It doesn't change your ongoing override structure.
Bonuses may not show where you expect. If you're looking for a bonus and can't find it on your regular pay stub, check the One-Time Payments section.
Check your override breakdown if earnings seem low. If your override income dropped, it might be because a rep left your team, accounts canceled, or your position changed. The breakdown helps you see exactly where your overrides are coming from.
