Types of Documents Explained

Rep Agreement / Contractor Agreement This is your primary document that defines your relationship with the company. It typically includes:

  • Your classification (1099 contractor or W-2 employee)

  • Commission rates and payment terms

  • Override structures (if applicable)

  • Length of the agreement

  • Responsibilities and expectations

  • Grounds for termination

Review this document carefully so you understand your compensation and obligations.

W-9 (Request for Taxpayer Identification Number) This IRS form provides your tax identification information. The company uses it to:

  • Prepare your 1099 at year end

  • Report payments made to you

  • Verify your identity for tax purposes

Background Check Authorization This document gives the company permission to:

  • Verify your identity

  • Check your criminal history

  • Review other background information as applicable

Addendums These modify your main agreement without replacing it entirely. Examples include:

  • A bonus addendum outlining a hiring bonus and repayment terms

  • A tier addendum detailing performance-based commission increases

  • A territory addendum defining your sales area

  • A housing addendum covering company-provided housing terms

Non-Compete / Non-Solicitation Agreements If applicable, these documents restrict:

  • Working for competitors during or after your employment

  • Soliciting company customers or employees

  • Using confidential information

Tips and Common Mistakes

  • Download copies for your records. Don't rely solely on Sequifi to store your documents. Download and save copies to your personal computer or cloud storage.

  • Read documents before signing. Take time to understand what you're agreeing to, especially for your rep agreement and any addendums.

  • Complete pending signatures promptly. Unsigned documents can delay your onboarding completion and potentially your pay.

  • Check documents after promotions or renewals. When your position changes or you renew your agreement, new documents may appear that need your signature.

  • Know where to find your commission structure. Your rep agreement typically contains your commission percentages. You can also see this in the Commissions tab of your profile.

  • Ask questions before signing. If you don't understand something in a document, ask your manager or HR before signing. Once signed, you're bound by the terms.

  • Keep track of agreement dates. Know when your agreement started and when it ends (if applicable) so you're prepared for renewals.

Common Questions

What if I can't find a document I signed? All signed documents should appear in your Documents tab. If something is missing, contact your admin. They may need to resend it or check the system.

Can I request changes to a document? Before signing, you can discuss terms with your manager or HR. Once a document is signed, changes typically require a new document or addendum.

What happens if I don't sign a required document? Your onboarding may be incomplete, which could delay your access to the system or your pay. Complete all required signatures as soon as possible.

How do I know if a document is required? Required documents are typically marked as mandatory during onboarding. If you're unsure, ask your manager or admin which documents you need to complete.

Will I get a new rep agreement every year? This depends on your company's policy. Some companies do annual renewals with new agreements, while others have indefinite agreements that continue until terminated.

Where do I find my 1099 tax form? 1099 forms are typically mailed to your address on file in January for the previous tax year. Some companies may also make them available electronically. Check with your admin if you haven't received yours.

Can I sign documents on my phone? Yes, Sequifi is accessible on mobile devices, and you should be able to view and sign documents from your phone or tablet.
