Override structures update for existing deals
Apply Immediately
Changes take effect from today forward
Past accounts and pending deals keep their original settings

Making Multiple Changes at Once
Sometimes you need to change several things at once, like when promoting someone to a new position in a new office with a new commission structure.
Approach 1: Sequential Updates Make each change separately:
Update position first
Then transfer to the new office
Then update commissions
This gives you more control but takes more time.
Approach 2: New Contract If changes are significant, consider creating a new contract instead:
Click "New Contract" instead of "Update Employment Package"
Walk through the full agreement setup with all new details
This creates a fresh agreement with everything updated at once
Use the new contract approach when:
Multiple aspects are changing significantly
You want a clean break from the old agreement
It's time for an annual renewal anyway
Reviewing Current Employment Package
Before making changes, you may want to review the rep's current package:
Go to the rep's profile.
Click on the "Organization" tab. This shows their current position, manager, office, and team.
Click on the "Commissions" tab. This shows their current commission structure, including:
Base commission percentages
Product-specific rates
Upfront pay amounts
Override percentages
Review their agreement details. Check the agreement start date, end date, and any special terms.
This helps you understand what's currently in place before making updates.
Tips and Common Mistakes
Plan your changes before starting. Know exactly what needs to change and when before you begin the update process.
Choose the right timing option. Think carefully about whether changes should affect past accounts or only future ones. This decision can significantly impact pay calculations.
Make changes in the right order. If you're making multiple changes, consider what order makes the most sense. For example, transfer to a new office before updating commissions if the commission rates are office-specific.
Communicate with the rep. Let them know what's changing, when it takes effect, and what to expect. They should be able to see the changes reflected in their profile.
Double-check the summary before saving. The review screen shows you exactly what's changing. Take time to verify everything is correct.
Use temporary changes appropriately. If a change is truly temporary (like a summer assignment), use the temporary option so you don't have to remember to change it back later.
Document significant changes. Keep a record of why employment packages were updated, especially for promotions or unusual situations.
Consider using a new contract for major changes. If someone is being significantly promoted or their role is fundamentally changing, a new contract may be cleaner than multiple updates.
Common Questions
What's the difference between updating a package and creating a new contract? Updating a package modifies specific aspects of the existing agreement. Creating a new contract starts fresh with a complete new agreement. Use updates for smaller changes and new contracts for major changes or annual renewals.
Can I undo an employment package change? You can make another update to change things back, but there's no simple "undo" button. Be careful and review changes before saving.
Do employment package changes affect past pay stubs? No, past pay stubs remain as they were. Changes affect future calculations and, depending on your timing selection, may affect pending accounts that haven't been paid yet.
What if I make a mistake? If you notice an error after saving, make another update to correct it. If the error affected payroll, you may need to make adjusting entries in the next pay period.
Can the rep see their employment package details? Yes, reps can see their organization and commission information in their profile. They'll be able to see when changes have been made.
