Submitting Referrals

The Referrals feature allows you to submit leads for potential new hires, helping your company grow while potentially earning recruiting bonuses or overrides on the people you bring in.

When to Use This

  • You met someone who might be a good fit for your company

  • You want to refer a friend or contact for a sales position

  • You need to submit a lead for your manager to interview

  • You want to track people you've referred to the company

Step-by-Step Walkthrough

Accessing the Referrals Tab

  1. Log in to Sequifi. You'll land on your dashboard after signing in.

  2. Click on "Referrals" in the left-hand menu. This opens the referrals section where you can submit and track leads.

Submitting a New Referral

  1. Click "Add New" in the upper right corner. This opens the form to enter a new lead.

  2. Enter the lead's first name. This is required (marked with a red asterisk).

  3. Enter the lead's last name. This is also required.

  4. Enter the lead's email address. Make sure this is accurate so the company can contact them.

  5. Enter the lead's phone number. Provide the best number to reach them.

  6. Answer any additional questions. Depending on your company's setup, there may be optional questions about the lead's experience, availability, or background. Fill these in if you have the information.

  7. Add a comment or note (optional). Use this space to provide helpful context about the lead. For example:

    • "Met at a networking event, very enthusiastic"

    • "Has 2 years of sales experience"

    • "Available to start immediately"

    • "Wearing a dark jacket, Nike dunks" (to help identify them at an interview)

  8. Click "Submit." Your referral is now in the system.

Using Your Personal QR Code

Sequifi provides a personalized QR code that makes it easy to collect referrals.

  1. Find your QR code in the Referrals section. Each user has a unique QR code.

  2. Share the QR code with potential leads. You can:

    • Show it on your phone for someone to scan

    • Print it on business cards or flyers

    • Include it in emails or social media posts

  3. When someone scans the code: They're taken to a form where they can enter their own information.

  4. The lead is automatically attached to you. Since they used your QR code, you're recorded as the recruiter.

  5. The lead appears in your referrals list. You can track them just like manually entered referrals.

This is a great way to collect leads at events, job fairs, or anywhere you meet potential candidates.

Viewing Your Submitted Referrals

  1. Go to the Referrals tab.

  2. Review your list of submitted leads. You'll see:

    • Lead name

    • Contact information

    • Source (manual entry or QR code)

    • Status

    • Date submitted

  3. Check the status of each lead. Statuses may include:

    • New

    • Contacted

    • Interview scheduled

    • Hired

    • Rejected

Taking Actions on Your Referrals

You may have the ability to perform certain actions on leads you've submitted.

  1. Find the lead in your list.

  2. Look for the three dots menu or action buttons on the right side.

  3. Available actions may include:

Edit Lead Update the lead's information if you entered something incorrectly or have new details.

Schedule Interview If you have permission, you can schedule an interview directly:

    • Select who will conduct the interview

    • Choose the date

    • Select a time slot

    • Click "Schedule"

Rate Lead Give the lead a star rating to indicate their quality or potential.

Tracking Referral Outcomes

Keep an eye on what happens to your referrals.

  1. Check the status column regularly. See if leads have been contacted or interviewed.

  2. Look for hired status. When a lead you referred gets hired, the status updates.

  3. Understand your potential earnings. If your company offers recruiting bonuses or overrides:

    • You may receive a bonus when your referral is hired

    • You may earn recruiting overrides on their future sales

    • Check with your manager about your company's specific program

Tips and Common Mistakes

  • Submit leads promptly. Enter referrals while the information is fresh and accurate.

  • Provide accurate contact information. Double-check phone numbers and email addresses. Incorrect info means the lead can't be contacted.

  • Add helpful notes. Context about the lead (experience, availability, how you met) helps managers prioritize and prepare for interviews.

  • Use your QR code. It's an easy way to collect leads without manual data entry.

  • Follow up with your leads. Let them know you submitted their information and what to expect next.

  • Don't submit unqualified leads. Referring people who aren't genuinely interested or qualified wastes everyone's time and can affect your reputation.

  • Track your referrals. Check back to see their progress and celebrate when they get hired.

  • Understand your company's referral program. Know what bonuses or overrides you might earn for successful referrals.

Common Questions

What happens after I submit a referral? The lead goes into the company's hiring pipeline. A manager or recruiter will review it and decide whether to contact the lead for an interview.

Do I earn anything for referrals? This depends on your company's program. Many companies offer hiring bonuses when referrals are successfully hired, and some offer ongoing recruiting overrides. Ask your manager for details.

Can I see if my referral was hired? Yes, the status of your referral updates as they move through the hiring process. Check the Referrals tab to see their current status.

What if I entered wrong information for a lead? Use the Edit Lead option to correct any mistakes. The sooner you fix it, the better.

Can I refer the same person twice? The system may flag duplicate entries. If someone was previously rejected, check with your manager before resubmitting them.

What's the difference between Referrals and Hiring? The Referrals tab is where anyone can submit leads. The Hiring tab is for managers and recruiters who manage the full interview and onboarding process.

How does the QR code know it's my referral? Your QR code is unique to you. When someone scans it, the system automatically records you as the referrer.
